UNICEF has scaled up its emergency operations to protect children, restore essential services, and support affected communities. In this environment, seamless administrative and operational support is vital.

As an Administrative Officer, you will help ensure that emergency relief teams have the logistics, resources, and operational backing they need to deliver aid effectively.

Core Responsibilities

Working under the direction of your supervisor, you will oversee administrative support services to ensure smooth, cost-effective operations that fully comply with UN policies and rules.

Key focus areas include:

  • Operations & Policy: Applying administrative guidelines, rules, and procedures to daily operations.
  • Budget & Financial Support: Assisting with budget management, tracking expenses, and operational planning.
  • Property & Contracts: Managing organizational assets, properties, and vendor contract agreements.
  • Staff & Administrative Support: Supervising administrative staff and helping drive learning and development activities.
  • Coordination & Collaboration: Partnering with internal teams, external partners, and other agencies to maintain efficient common operations.

Who UNICEF is Looking For

To succeed in this role, you must meet the following required qualifications:

  • Education: A completed First Level University Degree in business management, administration, finance, social sciences, or a related field.
  • Experience: At least two years of professional work experience in administration, office management, finance, accounting, HR, ICT, or supply chain.
  • Emergency Background: Hands-on work experience in emergency or humanitarian contexts is required.
  • Languages: Full professional proficiency/fluency in both Spanish and English is mandatory.

Highly Desirable Skills:

  • Experience negotiating with vendors and managing interagency coordination.
  • A strong background in managing common services and applying safety/security guidelines.
  • Experience working in fragile, emergency, or country-level development settings.
  • Proficiency in an additional official UN language (French, Arabic, Chinese, or Russian).
